the story of a yellow coat...

let me tell you about this outfit, my friends...

 one cold day way back in November of 2012, me, myself, and i stopped by target on a whim (no, not really.. i think it was to buy notebooks or something. stopping at target "on a whim" is not a luxury i can yet afford..or ever will?). i was wearing this exact outfit minus the lovely coat.

now, let me paint a picture for you: i had a little extra time when i walked into target that fateful day. and i really didn't intend on even looking at clothes, because looking always gets me into trouble. let's face it- i see it, i buy it. monkey sees, monkey wants. anywho, you know how target has the clothes section hidden behind the cheap dollar bin type of stuff when you first walk in? well, through all that cheap crap (seriously, thanksgiving... you and your decorations bug me), i spotted this coat.

this bright, chartreusse-y/yellow, fur trimmed jacquard print coat.

wo while i wasn't there for clothes, i still decided i would be remiss if i left without at least trying it on. so try on i did. and, lemme tell you- my first thought was, "oh that's just great. i left my phone in the car and now i cant even instagram this fabulous find!"

yup. my brain is weird like that.

needless to say, i was smitten immediately. it went with my blue ensemble perfectly, and as luck would have it, i'd been in the market for a funky coat anyway... just not at that moment. and not for that price (i'm a cheap bastard) so off i went to buy some artist-quoted, polka dot notebooks to write all my jumbled thoughts in...

flash forward to february 2013, we're in utah, and my paisley printed travel bag just so happens to contain all the ingredients necessary to replicate the same ensemble...but i didn't pack any jewelry. i guess i didn't see the point? we basically drank beer in the garage, kitchen, hotel room, and parking lot all weekend.

and the dinosaur museum. we did do that. not drinking in the dinosaur museum. sober dinosaur museum. and that was pretty freaking sweet, if you ask us (;

onto the outfit!

did i mention the collar is removable?! two coats in one! although, i can't imagine ever wanting to remove the collar- it's totally part of the charm, dont you think?

although, i have to say-

i feel like we both look ten years older..?

meh. oh well.
